Well, I think we can all say that Omar surprised the Mets blogsphere with the signing of Chan Ho Park. Park is a very volital pitcher witha very up and down past. His best success has come in the National League and his biggest mistake was going to Texas, which is a hitters park and a bad defensive team behind him.
So what is the potential of Park for the Mets? He's not a top tier pitcher, let's get that out of the way right now. He has potential to be a solid pitcher and his fastball can still get up into the lower 90's (91-94). However, Parks problem appears to be his concentration. The guy can get on a roll and then everything falls apart in less than an inning or before a manager can get the bullpen up to save the game. We've seen that before with Victor Zambrano.
I feel the best position for Park might be long relief/spot starting. There's a chance Park could be a servicable 5th starter and give Pelfrey and Humber time to mature in AAA and AA. This is a reasonable signing for the most part as Park has a chance to be this year's Darren Oliver.
