Just a few things I want to hit as I listen to WFAN and enjoy another day near 100 degree in Oklahoma.
1. Beltran may miss the whole Braves series. You know, I'm kind of glad that Beltran and the Mets are taking this route. For one, we know that Beltran learned his lesson from last year and will wait until he's 100%. I rather have Beltran miss a few game in April than play horrible again for the whole year. So let him rest this series only to scare the heck out of Atlanta at their home on the up coming road trip.
2. Floyd's injury isn't as bad as thought. He'll probably rest tonight and will be back on Thursday afternoon. A strained rib cage can be a pain in the neck, but nothing a little icy hot and rest can't fix.
3. I have been listening to the new Mets theme song for 2006 and my only thoughts was who let Vanilla Ice back? Seriously, it's that sad. However, I think this song can be saved if the Mets get Busta Ryhmes or somebody to revamp it. A better option would be for Metallica to remake "Enter Sandman" for the Mets. Get the Yankee fans ticked off AND have a cool theme song! If only I ran the Mets!
4. Mets are making history here. The Mets are the only team that to EVER have a 5 game lead in the division this early. Yes, even the 1998 Yankees could not do this. Further, the Mets have a chance to push this lead to 7 games with a sweep of these next two game. Also of importance is that the Mets have a chance by the end of the month to be 10 or more games above .500, which I have never seen before in a Mets team. Remember I was 5 when the Mets were this good.
I can't wait for the Mets to take on the Braves tonight! Let's go Mets!!
