Okay, I know I look like a fool after about an hour ago I thought this offer of the Giants was fantasy and he would soon go to the Mets.  Wow!  I can't believe what I'm reading here.

Look, I don't care who the pitcher is, Zito is NOT worth this money for this amount of years.  This deal is exactly the same as Hampton, and we all know what happened after that.

I have two rules for pitchers, no matter how good they are, never go over 5 years and never go over 100 million.  Starting pitcher are like fine china.  They look great for a few years, but they are very fragile.  You can't use them everyday, and if they get chipped their value usual goes down pretty fast.  How many of you still would trade for Hampton after all those injuries.

So what do the Mets do now?  I say go back to what got the Mets to where they were in the first place.  The Mets have pitching, whether the media thinks so or not.  I suggest going into the season with Glavine, El Duque, Maine, Perez, and a combo of Pelfrey/Humber.  That's the best option I see now.
